Dhaka truck and pickup rate chart
The ranges below are for trips within Dhaka city. The low end applies to a trip inside one area, such as Mirpur to Mirpur, and the high end to the farthest trip within the city.

The 1 ton, 7 ft pickup is the one size with a fixed fare in the Truck Lagbe app, so it is not in the chart. The app shows that fare when you enter your pickup and drop-off points.
Loading or unloading that runs past six hours adds Tk 500 to Tk 1,000 for a large truck and Tk 300 to Tk 500 for a medium one. How the 2026 diesel price rises changed fares
Diesel cost Tk 102 a litre in January 2026 and was cut to Tk 100 in February. It rose to Tk 115 on 19 April and to Tk 135 on 21 September, a 32% increase over the year, as the Dhaka Tribune reported.
The government regulates bus fares but not truck, covered van or pickup fares, as Prothom Alo reported after the September increase. Each owner sets their own price, and no association published a new rate chart. Reported increases after September ranged from Tk 2,000 to Tk 9,000 per trip on long routes.
Short trips rose too. A pickup from Singair to Dhaka went from Tk 2,000 to Tk 2,500 after the September increase, according to bdnews24, a 25% jump. For city trips, bids may sit toward the top of the chart ranges, or above them, until fares settle.
What else changes the fare
Five things move a truck fare inside Dhaka, apart from fuel.
Distance and route come first. A trip within one area sits at the bottom of the chart and a cross-city trip at the top, and routes through heavy traffic take longer, which owners price in.
Loading and unloading time matters because a truck waiting at a site cannot take another trip. Have the goods packed and ready, and tell the owner if the building has no lift or a narrow lane.
Time of day affects which trucks you can book. Trucks longer than 12 ft can only run inside Dhaka at night, so a daytime move limits you to pickups and 12 ft trucks.
The type and volume of goods decide the truck size and whether you need a covered van. Fragile or high-value goods may also need extra care during loading.
Daily demand changes bids. When many people need trucks at once, such as before Eid holidays or during the April 2026 fuel shortage, fares rise.
Fixed fare or live bidding
Truck Lagbe prices trucks in two ways. The 1-ton, 7 ft pickup has a fixed fare that Truck Lagbe set using three years of booking data. You see the price before you book and do not need to negotiate.
Every other size is priced by live bidding. You post your trip with the pickup point, drop-off point, date and a description of the goods, and nearby truck owners send their fares. Several bids for the same trip show you the going rate on that day, and the competition keeps prices close to the market even if you have never rented a truck before.
To read bids well, compare at least three, check that each one is for the size and body type you asked for, and confirm whether labour is included. The cheapest bid can cost more overall if the truck is too small and you need a second trip.
Open truck or covered van: the price difference
A covered van costs the same as an open truck at the low end of most ranges and Tk 300 to Tk 500 more at the high end. For a 2-ton, 12 ft vehicle, for example, the open truck tops out at Tk 2,700 and the covered van at Tk 3,000.
The extra is worth paying for anything rain or dust could damage, such as furniture, electronics, garments and packaged food, and for long trips where the goods sit on the road for hours. For sand, bricks, rods and machinery, an open truck is the usual choice and the cheaper one.
Inter-district truck fares after September 2026
Truck Lagbe does not publish fixed rates outside Dhaka because fares on long routes move with fuel prices and demand. The figures below are fares reported in the news after the 21 September diesel increase. They show the scale of current prices; your bids may differ.

Reports on the Dhaka to Chattogram route vary widely because they cover different vehicles. Jugantor reported on 9 October that a rice truck on that route now costs Tk 25,000 to Tk 27,000, up from Tk 15,000 to Tk 16,000, and a covered van from Ashulia to Chattogram about Tk 30,000. Always compare quotes for the same truck size.
Extra costs to plan for
The fare a truck owner quotes typically covers the vehicle, driver and fuel. Other costs can be added on top, so ask about each one before you confirm.
Bridge and expressway tolls apply on many long routes. When the Padma Bridge opened in 2022, the toll was set at Tk 1,200 for a pickup, Tk 1,600 for a truck up to 5 tons and Tk 2,800 for a truck of 8 to 11 tons, as TBS reported. On the Dhaka Elevated Expressway, trucks pay Tk 80 to Tk 400 depending on size, according to Prothom Alo. We found no change to these rates since they were set, but confirm them before a long trip.
Waiting time adds up when loading is slow. Beyond six hours, Truck Lagbe’s chart adds Tk 300 to Tk 1,000 depending on truck size.

Holidays affect both price and availability. Trucks and covered vans were banned from highways from 17 to 23 March 2026 for Eid-ul-Fitr and on 25 to 27 and 29 to 31 May for Eid-ul-Azha, with exemptions for essentials such as perishables and medicine, as the Financial Express reported. Book early around these dates.
How to get a fair truck rental rate
- Book the right size. A truck that is too small means a second trip, and one that is too big means paying for space you do not use.
- Describe the load accurately: the type of goods, the approximate weight and whether anything is fragile. Owners bid more reliably when they know what they are carrying.
- Compare at least three bids for the same size and body type.
- Agree on loading time and labour before the truck arrives, so there are no extra charges at the end.
- Book large trucks in Dhaka for the night window, and plan inter-district trips early when fuel prices or holidays push demand up.
